Daniel Farke hopes Anton Stach can “step up” after a dip in form over the last few Leeds United matches, albeit revealing that the midfielder has been carrying injury concerns.

Stach lost goalscorer Lesley Ugochukwu for the opening goal in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Burnley and was criticised for a lack of intensity when running back during Loum Tchaouna’s 25-yard strike in the second half.

Many supporters want to see a change in midfield amid a winless three-game run, with Ao Tanaka waiting on the bench for his chance. Farke said he would not rule out starting XI changes for Friday’s match against West Ham, admitting that Stach has room to improve after his first two matches.

“I think overall over the course of the first games, he has delivered really good performances,” Farke said of Stach. “A top signing and a key player for us. I would agree that over the past two games, he has not been at the top, top level that he’s shown before.
