Mikos Kerkez has to go back to basics at Liverpool, according to a man who was no stranger to attacking from full-back for the Reds.

Markus Babbel was a key member of the Liverpool side which won three cup competitions in the 2000/01 season, with the Germany international making 60 appearances in all competitions and scoring six goals.

Among those strikes were a goal in a Merseyside derby and a header to open the scoring in the UEFA Cup final win over Alaves, but Babbel - who saw his career derailed the following season after he contracted a serious illness known as Guillain-Barre syndrome - knows that defending is the job of a full-back first and foremost.
