Arsenal are set for a major Christmas present in the shape of forgotten man Gabriel Jesus.

And it may well be double delight for the Gunners with Kai Havertz stepping up his fitness work and looking to get back into first-team contention much quicker than had initially been anticipated

Jesus, 28, suffered a serious knee injury in January during the FA Cup third round clash with Manchester United. The £45m striker has been plagued by injuries since the 2022 World Cup and it was a devastating blow for the Brazil international.

But Jesus has impressed Arsenal’s medical team with his determination to come back and is back taking part in sessions on grass.

There remains some caution, and he has not yet been involved in a full training session, but he is now targeting a return to full training and potential first team action by December - before hopefully playing a full part in the second half of the season and a title push.
