Micky van de Ven has criticised his Tottenham teammates and believes that the attacking players should have created more chances during Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa.

Thomas Frank's side made the perfect start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however. Rodrigo Bentancur put Spurs ahead in the fifth minute, slotting the ball home after Van de Ven headed across the box.

Although Tottenham created chances to double their lead, Villa equalised eight minutes before the break. Morgan Rogers was the man that scored it, as he fired the ball beyond Guglielmo Vicario from the edge of the area.

Villa went on to win it in the second half, with substitute Emiliano Buendia coming on and scoring in the 77th minute. The Argentine dribbled inside before curling an inch-perfect shot past Vicario and into the corner.

Spurs may have had more shots, shots on target and clear-cut chances, but Van de Ven felt his side could have done much more to get at least a point - if not three - from the game.
