Danny Simpson was part of one of the most famous teams in Premier League history. After all, he was the right-back of the iconic Leicester City team who defied all the odds to win the Premier League title during the 2015/16 season.

But Newcastle fans will best remember the former Manchester United defender for the four seasons he spent on Tyneside.

Joining the club in 2009, he was part of a Magpies side who won promotion from the Championship and secured Premier League survival the following season under the management initially of Chris Hughton and then Alan Pardew.

But it was the 2011/12 team that wrote themselves into modern Newcastle history as they became the first Magpies side to qualify for Europe for six years and narrowly missed out on qualifying for the Champions League by finishing fifth in the Premier League.

The following season, Simpson was part of the side who reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League before he left to join QPR in the summer of 2013.
