Manchester United’s latest transfer desire may pose a big problem for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January transfer window.

Over recent days, a number of outlets have reported that Tottenham are prioritising strengthening their midfield in the January transfer window.

That might potentially have to do with the fact that the Rodrigo Bentancur-Joao Palhinha partnership is yet to fully convince, while Pape Sarr will be away for the AFCON at the end of the year.

However, TEAMtalk have now said that Spurs will have to deal with competition from Man United for the Crystal Palace star.

The report claims that the Red Devils are very keen on the England international and have now identified him as their top target for January.

United are impressed with Wharton’s composure on the ball and tactical intelligence, with the player said to be ‘loved’ by Ruben Amorim’s staff.

It is revealed that the Eagles will demand upwards of £70m for the 21-year-old, and United would thus have to offload some of their players to fund a move.
