Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Al-Qadsiah striker Mateo Retegui.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Retegui is on United’s list of targets heading into the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old striker left Atalanta in favour of a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia in the summer. Still, he continues to pique the interest of clubs across Europe with his goalscoring prowess.

Early this week, the Argentina-born Italian scored a brace in Italy’s 3-0 win over Israel.

Known for his explosive runs into the channels and ruthless ball-striking, Retegui finished as the top scorer in Serie A last season with 25 goals.

The ex-Tigre talisman was also the 2022 Argentine Primera División top goalscorer.

The centre forward has had a prolific start to life in the Saudi Pro League as well, having notched three goals in four appearances.

According to Fichajes, United are considering an offer of around €60m (£52.2m) to sign Retegui, as Ruben Amorim needs more attacking depth.
