Liverpool do not tend to get transfers wrong, but some in the past proved to be terrible decisions.

The Reds have been very astute operators in the transfer market over recent years, with almost every move being a rousing success.

However, this has not always been the case and early into the FSG era, many mistakes were made in terms of incomings.

One of the biggest wastes of money came in attack, with Liverpool spending £16m to bring Manchester City flop Mario Balotelli to the club.

Things did not quite work out, although that came as very little surprise given his reputation, with the Italian scoring just four times in a Red shirt.

Almost a decade on, the striker technically still has a career, although he has recently admitted that he is not sure how much longer for.

Balotelli really did have the world at his feet and talent in abundance when he made a name for himself at Inter Milan, with his move to Man City expected to elevate his career even further.

However, simply due to his attitude and laid-back approach, this never happened as he simply did not want it enough, with the Italian becoming somewhat of a journeyman.
