Liverpool made a great decision buying Cody Gakpo to play on the left.

The Dutchman joined the Reds for £35 million in January 2023, and, unusually for a winter signing, he was a massive success when he became part of the squad from PSV.

Since joining under Jurgen Klopp, Gakpo has become an important part of Liverpool’s left side of attack, and with fellow Dutch national Arne Slot at the helm, his minutes and starts have increased.

The 26-year-old has proved why he deserves those minutes on the pitch by being a consistent force for the club with 25 goal contributions last season.

He has had a slightly difficult start like many in the team, but he has been better than many in the starting XI this year, and so far has four contributions despite poor team performances.

It was fortunate for Liverpool fans that he joined the club, as the star was actually on his way to the other side of the M62 to join Manchester United.
