Bruno Fernandes has labelled the idea of leaving Manchester United for Saudi Arabia as “an impossible scenario to imagine”.

O Jogo cover comments from the Portuguese midfielder today during a pre-match press conference for Portugal. They take on the Republic of Ireland on Saturday.

Fernandes was the player elected to speak to the media ahead of the game. During this it seems he was asked about rumours linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.

He was linked throughout the summer transfer window with a similar move. That was largely shot down in England, despite insistence by various journalists that the interest was serious.

A move never happened and he remained at Old Trafford instead. He is considered a key player in Ruben Amorim’s plans, despite doubts about how he fits into his compatriot’s system.

What happens in future remains to be seen, though. The 31-year-old’s current Manchester United deal expires in June 2027. That means he will be entering next summer with just a year left on his deal.
