Blackburn Rovers revived their interest in AS Saint-Étienne’s Mickaël Nadé in the summer.

In August 2023, claims from France reported the Championship were ready to sign him, but didn’t materialise.

Two months ago, Africa Foot reported Blackburn Rovers were in advanced negotiations to secure the 26-year-old’s services. They also stated the English club had made an offer.

Foot-Sur7 now report Blackburn Rovers and Panathinaikos were among multiple clubs who showed interest in the defender.

Last season, Saint-Étienne were relegated from the top division. Valérien Ismaël’s side and others wanted to take advantage.

They weren’t successful and the player has been speaking to Tribune Verte, a magazine dedicating its coverage to the Ligue 2 side. Foot-Sur7 have relayed his comments on why he decided to continue Saint-Étienne amid approaches last summer.

Nadé, who graduated from Saint-Étienne’s youth system, says he wanted to remain loyal to the club.

“I wanted to stay. It’s always rewarding to have requests. But I feel good here,” he said.

His decision to continue has seen him take up a new role under Saint-Étienne manager, Eirik Horneland.
