Nemanja Matić left Manchester United in summer 2022, having arrived in 2017. When leaving Old Trafford, he wanted to go somewhere he’d have more prominence, be more important.

The destination chosen was AS Roma, but Matić has now sent digs to current Bournemouth director Tiago Pinto over what happened during that move.

Roma were involved in a lot of dramas during that period, and it wasn’t all down to the Bournemouth man. There was trouble on and off the pitch and an instability which often spilled over into the media.

Jose Mourinho had been the one to identify Matić, having worked with the midfielder at Manchester United previously. Pinto and Roma only wanted to offer a one year contract, but Matić believes he was deceived.
