UEFA has offered an explanation why Ibrahima Konate was denied a penalty during Liverpool's 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray. The Reds were awarded a lifeline after the Frenchman went to ground following a challenge in the box late on.

Liverpool were pushing for an equaliser after falling behind to a spot-kick themselves, which Victor Osimhen converted. A corner was swept in which Konate looked to volley goalwards, but he was caught by Wilfried Singo.

Referee Clement Turpin had a good view and pointed to the spot but was instructed to review the monitor and quickly overturned his decision with UEFA later explaining why that call was made.
