Newcastle United look set to cash in on one of their big-name players this summer - but have been warned that any more than a single sale could cause uproar on Tyneside.

Despite flattering financial figures released last week, which saw commercial revenue increase by 44% and a post-tax profit of £34.7million, Newcastle's numbers are still tight as they look to meet the Premier League and UEFA regulations.

The club sold the St James' Park leasehold to themselves more than a year ago to combat Profit and Sustainability concerns, but look set to have breached UEFA's squad cost ratio rules, which will land them with a hefty fine.

Chief executive David Hopkinson admitted that in order to spend big this summer, big-name players may have to leave to fund more spending. However, any sales will only be sanctioned in the best interests of the club and on their terms.
