Manchester United are expected to be active in this summer’s transfer window as they look to address the weaknesses in the squad.

United want to strengthen their midfield options and sign a new left-winger, with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande being prime targets.

Centre-back Harry Maguire has emphasised the need for United to sign quality players this summer to build on recent progress.

He told the Sun: “We’re in a strong position. We’ve had a great few months under the manager. I feel like the squad is starting to look like something that is a strong squad.

“But this summer’s going to be big, really, really big. We need more players, we need better quality, we need players to come into the starting eleven.

“And then when everything comes together, we’ll see where it is at the start of the season.“We’ll have a good pre-season and be ready.”

Maguire also argued that United could compete for major titles next term with the right recruitment.
