It has been a torrid season for Tottenham Hotspur, failing to build on their Europa League success in Bilbao. They have changed their head coach for the fourth time in 10 months, yet Spurs have struggled royally for stability and direction.

Roberto De Zerbi is the latest man to have arrived in N17 in what is the last throw of the dice from the club officials to save Tottenham from sinking. The Italian was initially reluctant to take charge of the North Londoners and get embroiled in a relegation battle, but the club chiefs have convinced him to take the job. He has started working with the players on the training field, as Spurs hover above the Premier League relegation zone.

De Zerbi has vowed to stick with Tottenham even if they go down, which may have surprised the fans in a good way. He will certainly make massive changes to his squad in the summer after a miserable domestic campaign, regardless of the division.

Former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd has backed De Zerbi to propel Tottenham to Europe next season. If he intends to do that, the 46-year-old needs a massive exodus of players in the summer.
