An emotional Trippier said he's been on an "amazing journey" on Tyneside since joining the club in January, 2022, when the Magpies were battling relegation.

But Trippier's four-and-a-half year stay will come to an end this summer when his contract expires, signalling the end of an era at St James' Park.

Trippier was a transformational signing for the Magpies and will go down as a club legend. He swapped the Champions League for a battle to avoid dropping into the Championship when he joined Newcastle from Atletico Madrid, and then played a starring role in not only helping Howe's side avoid the drop but the success that followed.

He initially captained the club before the armband was handed to Bruno Guimaraes, played all 90 minutes in last season's Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool and has racked up more than 150 appearances for the Magpies.

But his time at the club is not over quite yet and Howe knows the right-back will do all he can to help Newcastle finish this season on a high note as the Magpies try and force their way into Europe....
