Difficult to believe in just three years West Ham United have fallen from European champions to relegation-threatened Premier League basket cases. June 2023 saw wild elation both in Prague and around the streets of the old ground as fans celebrated silverware for the first time since 1980 and it seemed the club could really be heading for ‘world class’ status.

How hollow that all rings now: Fan protests, £100 million plus losses, failed transfers, morale at an all time low and player sales expected in the summer even if relegation is avoided just to balance the books.

A new report today by footballinsider247.com claims that West Ham’s ‘massive’ failures are to be used as a cautionary tale over exactly how not to run a football club by former rivals – now of course far and away Premier League superiors Everton who are striving for European qualification themselves this season.
