Arsenal are reportedly in a fierce battle to sign Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

Since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard has established himself as an undisputed starter and has even been handed the responsibility of leading the squad.

However, he hasn’t been at his best this season, with persistent injury problems being one of the key reasons. In 27 appearances across all competitions, the 27-year-old has made seven goal contributions.

Eberechi Eze was purchased from Crystal Palace last summer to support the Norwegian. He initially struggled to find regular game time, but amid Odegaard’s absence, he has secured his place in Arteta’s starting line-up in recent months.

In 43 appearances across all competitions, the England international has scored nine goals and registered five assists this season.

Ethan Nwaneri is another option for Arsenal to deploy in the creative midfield position. However, he joined Olympique de Marseille on loan in January, having struggled to find regular game time during the first half of this term.

Despite already having enough firepower in the creative midfield position, Arsenal have seemingly started exploring options to refresh this area during the offseason.
