Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Real Madrid defender Victor Valdepeñas, as per Spanish outlet AS.

The 19-year-old started his youth career at Villa Rosa before moving to Rayo Vallecano. After spending a couple of years at Los Franjirrojos, he initially joined Los Blancos’ famous La Fabrica academy back in 2018.

However, he signed for Leganés in 2020, then returned to La Fabrica a couple of years later. The youngster made his first team debut for Alvaro Arbeloa’s side in December last year.

However, he hasn’t been able to play regularly yet. Still, AS report that Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Valdepeñas after being impressed by his performances for Real Madrid Castilla U21.

The player had a £43m release clause in his contract, but Real Madrid have handed him a fresh term until 2029, with a salary hike and an increased exit clause.

The report state that Arsenal will have to overcome fierce competition to finalise the operation as AC Milan are also interested in the Spanish.
