Rangers may well lean on Joe Rothwell to put in a positive word for them amid fresh links with Sheffield United striker Tyrese Campbell.

Campbell has frequently been linked with a move to Ibrox, dating back as far as 2020 when he was at Stoke City.

The 26-year-old was also touted as a target for the Gers last summer, but nothing came of that speculation.

Campbell has spent a season-and-a-half at Bramall Lane, scoring 16 goals in 61 matches in all competitions.

Amid fresh Rangers transfer speculation, the Gers may have an ace up their sleeve in former player Rothwell.

According to a report via the Daily Record on Saturday, Rangers have reignited their interest in Campbell.

Rangers are not alone in doing so, however, as fierce rivals Celtic are also scouting the 26-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.
