With the exit from the Champions Cup, Vancouver’s focus returns to their perfect start in MLS play, as they will try to defend that this Saturday night in a battle against an upstart San Jose side.

Bruce Arena and Timo Werner have provided a new spark to this team, but it’s the defensive side of the game that has really changed, as the Bay Area team looks competent in that area for the first time in as long as I can remember.

In terms of Vancouver news and notes, still no update on Cubas, but I can’t see him playing this weekend either way. Blackmon was not in the squad for either of Vancouver’s most recent matches, but I would think he should be good to go a week from now, if needed.

Finally, after some trialling, I think it makes sense to go back to using the comments for predictions.
