2026 has not been Ayden Heaven’s year, which is disappointing given his brilliant end to 2025.

Heaven, who was snapped up from Arsenal at the start of 2025, slowly but surely established himself at the Theatre of Dreams.

With Manchester United’s defensive injury struggles, the 19-year-old got his opportunities, and when on the pitch, he dazzled.

It was clear that in him, a 6’2″ left-footed centre-back who carries elite composure and the confidence to play out from the back, aided by his history as a midfielder, the Red Devils had landed a baller.

Perfect end to the year

Well, in December Heaven massively stepped up. With Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez all out, he played a key role in United’s defence.

Impressive across the six fixtures the Red Devils played that month, he capped it with a man-of-the-match performance in the 1-0 Boxing Day win over Newcastle United.

His exploits saw him crowned United’s December Player of the Month, and while there was hope he would build on those performances and cement his spot in United’s starting XI, that has simply not happened.
