Aston Villa are again being linked with a move for Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo, and this time the potential price range is becoming clearer.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola report that the Mozambique international remains one of the players Sporting are prepared to sell in the summer window.

The 25-year-old has been attracting interest since last year, when Aston Villa and Fenerbahçe were both prepared to pay around €20m (£17m) to secure his signing.

Sporting ultimately decided to keep him. However, the situation may now evolve differently.

Catamo has continued to grow in importance in Lisbon. Wearing the No.10 shirt this season, he has scored seven goals in 31 appearances and added four assists. Those numbers have reinforced his status in the squad and strengthened his reputation in the transfer market.

Sporting open to negotiations

Both Sporting and the player are now open to discussing a summer move. The final price could depend heavily on how Catamo finishes the season.

The report suggests a deal in the region of €20m-€30m (£17m-£26m) could be enough to secure a transfer. That places the potential fee well below the winger’s €60m (£51m) release clause.
