David Moyes hopes Everton’s squad players will take note of Dwight McNeil’s resurgence and use it as inspiration. The midfielder was applauded off the pitch after he helped the Blues to end their three month winless run at home with a 2-0 win over Burnley. McNeil was involved in both goals on Tuesday night and was influential in the 3-2 win at Newcastle United days earlier.

Moyes is hoping other players take note of the opportunity provided to McNeil and how he has taken it, with the Blues boss open to giving chances to the likes of Tyler Dibling and Merlin Rohl.

McNeil’s return to the starting line-up at St James’ Park represented his first action since the collapse of his deadline day move to Crystal Palace. The inclusion of the 26-year-old in the first XI came as a surprise but Moyes has since been able to claim vindication.
