Aston Villa are in a rut, having won just one of their last seven games and losing their last two against bottom club Wolves and Champions League-chasing rivals Chelsea.

It has been a terrible week for Unai Emery’s team, losing 2-0 at Molineux and not only failing to seize an opportunity against Chelsea but also being heavily beaten by the Blues.

Villa started the season without a win in six matches in all competitions, but their current form is arguably just as bad. They have lost four of their last eight games in all competitions, winning just twice in that period.

After the club’s latest defeat, John Townley took a walk around Villa Park to share his thoughts on the current situation.

One key reason why Villa’s form has nosedived in recent weeks is the injuries suffered by John McGinn, Youri Tielemans and Boubacar Kamara.

McGinn is expected back soon, but Tielemans will not return until after the international break, while Kamara is sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
