Luke Shaw was forced to leave the pitch halfway through the first half of Manchester United's match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, potentially giving Michael Carrick an injury headache for Wednesday's clash with Newcastle.

Despite a troublesome injury history since his transfer to Old Trafford in 2014, Shaw has managed to remain injury-free this season.

The left-back appeared to be clutching his foot as he received attention from a medical team member. Earlier, Shaw had been struck on the foot by Palace full-back Daniel Muñoz, but it remains uncertain whether this incident led to his substitution.

Shaw was playing his 27th match of the season for Man United. The England international was substituted by Noussair Mazraoui with Man United leading 1-0 thanks to Maxence Lacroix's early goal, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Leny Yoro was largely blamed for the visitors' opening goal as he lost his man, allowing Lacroix to score with a header.
