Manchester United came away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium with all three points as they edged past Everton 1-0 on Monday night.

This was United’s fifth win out of six since Michael Carrick‘s arrival, and their unbeaten run now has them in fourth position in the Premier League table, only three points behind Aston Villa.

The caretaker head coach has mostly been spot-on with his team selections, but he did miss a trick by not starting the in-form Benjamin Sesko against the Toffees.

With the home side having tall defenders, Bryan Mbeumo hardly got any joy out of them. Carrick’s early second half change ultimately proved to be the difference.

The Slovenian came on and within 15 minutes of his introduction, he stroked home United’s winner after a brilliant ball from Matheus Cunha to start the counter-attack.

He now has six goals in his last seven appearances, and it is becoming more and more difficult for Carrick to ignore him.

Despite not starting a game under the new coach, the former RB Leipzig star does not seem to mind, explaining to Sky Sports that he is ready to contribute whenever Carrick feels fit.
