Tottenham Hotspur have received a blow in their rumoured pursuit of a potential Guglielmo Vicario replacement.

The Tottenham number one continues to be heavily linked with a return to Serie A, with reports indicating that Vicario is fully open to leaving Spurs this summer.

As a result, one would expect the Lilywhites to possibly accelerate their search for a new first-choice goalkeeper ahead of the summer window.

It has been reported by some sources that Man City’s James Trafford is Tottenham’s top target to replace Vicario, but the Lilywhites face a big complication in their pursuit of the Englishman.

Football Insider have now revealed that the Man City goalkeeper is attracting interest from Newcastle United and Aston Villa ahead of the summer.

Interestingly, the report makes no mention of Spurs and reveals that the 23-year-old has a clear preference regarding his next destination.

The outlet claims that Trafford is currently prioritising a move to Villa Park in the summer over a switch to St James’ Park.

According to sources close to the goalkeeper, he prefers to work under Unai Emery in the Midlands, especially given that Villa look likely to be in the Champions League next season.
