Having re-signed as a free agent after Graham Potter’s daft decision to let him leave, Lucas Fabianski has endured something of a torrid time as an injury has kept him out of any form of action for several months. The Hammers’ veteran sustained the back injury in training and has opened up on the challenges he’s faced.

Speaking to Polish outlet daveockop, Fabianski confirmed he’s finally back training at 80% but revealed the details of his injury: Anyone who’s ever injured a disc – ouch – will sympathise with ‘Fab’ who has struggled to put his body back together:

“I made a turn, a dynamic change of direction, and one of my discs popped, which started pressing on a nerve in my leg, quite severely.

This was the first time I’d had an injury like this. It happened in training. Not even after an intervention, a jump, a fall, or a run. After undergoing a series of tests, including an MRI, I saw that my spine was indeed showing the wear and tear of all those seasons. But I don’t regret it.”
