Former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has caught fans off guard by turning up at the Qatar Open tennis championship, just over a month after his dismissal. The Portuguese's exit as United boss was confirmed in January, with him reportedly receiving a £12 million settlement.

The choice to terminate Amorim's position followed a heated press conference after the stalemate at Leeds United. On Thursday evening, Amorim was seen attending the Qatar Open quarter-final encounter between Carlos Alcaraz and Karen Khachanov.

During the latter stages, he appeared on the television broadcast of the match, observing proceedings from the spectator seating. The ex-United manager was shown as Alcaraz secured a three-set triumph.

The Spaniard had fallen behind by one set following a tie-breaker, but rallied to claim the second set 6-4 and take the third decisive set 6-3.
