Arsenal are reportedly battling Premier League rivals for the signing of Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon, according to a recent report.
Although Gabriel Martinelli has scored only one goal in the Premier League this season, he has shown his productivity in the Champions League and FA Cup, making 10 goal contributions in eight appearances. Overall, he has tallied 13 goals and assists this term.
However, he has entered the final 18 months of his current contract, and like the Brazilian, Leandro Trossard’s existing deal is also set to expire at the end of next season.
The Belgian will turn 32 later this year and has registered only one assist in the last 11 appearances across all competitions. So, it appears the North London club are considering upgrading the left flank in the summer.
As per a recent report (via Fichajes), Arsenal are interested in signing Gordon and could make a concrete approach to secure his services ahead of next season.
However, purchasing the Englishman won’t be straightforward as Newcastle have slapped a mammoth £95m price tag on his head, with his existing deal set to run until 2030.
