Newcastle United and Sunderland are set to discover their FA Cup fifth-round opponents tonight.

Eddie Howe's Magpies are into the last 16 of the world's oldest cup competition for the third successive season, having reached round five last campaign and the quarter-final in 2023/24.

A 3-1 win at Aston Villa on Saturday saw them progress into the fifth round this time around, with a Sandro Tonali brace and Nick Woltemade's late finish earning a well-deserved success for Howe's men.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are into round five for the first time in 11 years. Regis Le Bris' side beat Oxford United 1-0 on Sunday, following a penalty shootout win at Everton in round three last month.

The last time Sunderland progressed past the fifth round came in 2013/14, when the Black Cats - then an established Premier League club - reached the quarter-final before losing against Hull City.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland will be eyeing deep runs in the FA Cup this season, with a number of strong Premier League teams already out, including Manchester United and Villa.
