Manchester City will request permission from the Football League to include Marc Guehi in March's Carabao Cup final against Arsenal. City's new signing was unavailable for the semi-final second leg triumph over Newcastle United, having completed his transfer too late to be eligible for the opening encounter.

City's other January acquisition Antoine Semenyo had secured his move before that fixture in the north east and featured prominently, finding the net in the 2-0 victory.

Arsenal also booked their place in the Carabao Cup final with a 1-0 win over Chelsea in their semi-final second leg earlier this week, which helped the Gunners clinch a 4-2 aggregate victory.

City capitalised on a rule change for this campaign that permitted players to represent two different clubs in the same tournament, enabling Semenyo and Max Alleyne to participate in the semi-final despite previously turning out for Bournemouth and Watford respectively in earlier stages.
