Leeds United ended the January window with one signing that cost nothing to acquire. Facundo Buonanotte’s loan arrival from Brighton & Hove Albion means Leeds - maxed out on PSR limits - have sustained a net gain in quality overall.

However, some fans have expressed worry over how this will pan out over the second half of the season given relegation rivals have, in the main, been more active. In fact between them, £137.8million has been spent this month.

Some £83m of this was spent by Crystal Palace, who sit just three points ahead of Leeds and, of course, won the race for Jorgen Strand Larsen amid their £48m punt.

West Ham United, 18th, were the most active overall, with five players acquired. Axel Disasi was their deadline day arrival, switching from Chelsea on a loan move.

Nottingham Forest were also active on deadline day, with left-back Luca Netz of Borussia Monchengladbach arriving in a £1.1m deal. They also acquired goalkeeper Stefan Ortega for half a million pounds in recent days.
