Manchester United have confirmed that teenage forward James Scanlon has left the club on loan. United announced on deadline day that the 19-year-old has joined Swindon Town on loan for the second half of the season.

United had until 7pm (GMT) to complete their transfer business for the window, which also included allowing players to leave the club as well as bringing in new signings of their own.

It was confirmed at precisely 6.59pm by United that Scanlon had left Old Trafford to join Swindon on a temporary basis, where the forward will look to get valuable first-team experience while with the League One club, who are managed by Ian Holloway.

Scanlon is yet to make a first-team appearance for United in his young career, but has impressed with the club’s Under-21s this term.

Just last month, United’s Under-21s claimed a 3-2 win over Sporting Lisbon in the Premier League International Cup, where Scanlon scored a hat-trick to help the young Reds claim a vital win.
