Troy Deeney has insisted he would jump at the chance to take charge at Watford, following Javi Gracia's surprise resignation.

Gracia became the 13th manager to leave the club in the last five years, as he resigned as Hornets boss on Sunday after just four months in the job.

The Spaniard returned for a second spell at Vicarage Road in October, having previously served as head coach between 2018 and 2019.

He had replaced Paulo Pezzolano, who lasted just 10 games at the wheel, becoming the 23rd different manager of the Pozzo family's reign as Watford owners since 2012.

Gracia's resignation came 24 hours after a 2-0 defeat to Swansea, with the coach delivering an explosive post-match interview.

The 55-year-old had told reporters he wanted to discuss the quality of the squad and the club's ambitions with the owners.

Despite going winless in his final five games, Gracia leaves with Watford 10th in the Championship, four points off the play-offs.

The Hornets travel to third-placed Hull on Tuesday, with former defender Adrian Mariappa set to take the reigns for the away trip, joined by Dan Gosling and Charlie Daniels.
