Tottenham Hotspur face an interesting deadline day as Thomas Frank seeks to improve his squad. The team’s comeback to draw with Manchester City on Sunday provided reasons for optimism but Spurs are still short of options.

The club’s series of injuries have created a dilemma. While targeting several deals on deadline day would be challenging, Frank has not ruled out dipping into the loan market to bolster his squad immediately.

"We’re still in the market, so it’s not that we are not trying, but it’s just that the short term also needs to be with a long-term view. That’s a big thing," the Spurs boss said.

"[A loan] that’s different, doing a loan that fits and can help us. That’s different compared to buying a player for £30-£40million, that does he really improve us much more to what we’ve got now? That’s two different things."
