As was evident from the wave after wave of Chelsea attacks that eventually overwhelmed West Ham yesterday, the Irons’ squad is in deep trouble. Nine players have left the club this window and just three first team-ers have landed. Even without Nuno’s tactical blunders, West Ham are in desperate need of reinforcement and with just two days left before the window shuts, that’s a woefully poor place to be.

Which is what made the cheery ‘here we go’ from Fabrizio Romano – confirming another ‘deal done’ this morning – all the more difficult to swallow, as it is West Ham’s relegation rivals Wolves who have just tied up a deal to sign one of West Ham’s more ‘sought after’ former targets.

According to the transfer insider:

“EXCLUSIVE: Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Angel Gomes, here we go! Loan move from Olympique Marseille for €1m fee plus buy option clause around €7m fee. OM have approved the deal, waiting for formal steps and documents ahead of signatures.”
