West Ham United must reject any temptation to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford in the January window. Keith Wyness issued this stark warning while speaking exclusively to the Inside Track podcast by Football Insider. 

Wyness is the former chief executive of Everton and Aston Villa. He now runs a consultancy for elite football clubs. He believed the Hammers had much bigger problems to solve than replacing their current number one, Alphonse Areola.

According to Wyness, the East London club should put all their money toward fixing the defence. He argued that Areola was still a solid choice. While Areola might not be one of the Premier League’s top-tier shot-stoppers yet, he wasn’t losing games for his team.

Wyness pointed out that a club in a relegation scrap has to focus on stopping goals with a strong backline. They shouldn’t take a chance on a young goalkeeper. Wyness specifically pointed to the back four and defensive midfield as the spots that needed cash right now.

He thought spending big on a keeper was a huge risk when the rest of the defence was so leaky. So, he told the West Ham bosses to ignore the Trafford rumours...
