Celebrity Everton fans have various levels when it comes to their True Blue credentials but while Sylvester Stallone’s link might have started as a publicity stunt, his visit to watch the team play nevertheless created a bond that ensured the home crowd cheered when he delivered a message to them ahead of their final Goodison Park fixture.

The list of famous ‘Evertonians’ ranges from passionate supporters to others who have never actually been to a game. From Sir Paul McCartney, who watched Harry Catterick’s side lose to West Bromwich Albion in the 1968 FA Cup final at the old Wembley Stadium, there’s also other musicians Ian Astbury of The Cult and Lee Mavers of The La’s; actresses Jodie Comer, daughter of Blues masseur Jimmy Comer, Amanda Holden and Dame Judie Dench; Ian Smith, who played Harold Bishop in Neighbours is cited too, along with other actors George Costigan, Ian Hart, Rob James-Collier and even Dolph Lundgren.
