The usual suspects continue to take the Newcastle United plaudits after a third win on the spin. And rightly so.

Step forward Captain Fantastic Bruno Guimaraes. Let's laud Lewis Miley. The duo were outstanding against Crystal Palace at the weekend and again against Leeds United.

Amid the inconsistencies, the ups and downs, the rollercoaster performances, those two - along with Malick Thiaw - have been the shining lights for Eddie Howe. Guimaraes has stepped up when Sandro Tonali's form has dipped like the true leader he is, adding goals to his inspirational drive. Thiaw has held the creaking defence together despite his Premier League experience, although he suffered his first real bad game against Leeds.

Then there is Miley. The quiet, shy teenage midfielder now drawing comparisons with Paolo Maldini for his effortless full-back play. He's nigh on undroppable despite Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento's return to form.

The last three games, however, have seen another player come to the fore, quietly going about his business.
