Aston Villa’s scouting trip to Brazil has already sparked a reaction from Cruzeiro. According to ESPN Brasil, the Premier League club rate striker Kaio Jorge “very highly” and sent an observer to watch him against Grêmio last week.

As we reported earlier, an Aston Villa scout attended the 1-0 win in Porto Alegre, where Kaio played 79 minutes and showed his usual intensity and movement. The visit did not go unnoticed in Belo Horizonte. Cruzeiro sources told ESPN that the club will only consider negotiations if January offers reach around £30m (€35m).

The 23-year-old joined Cruzeiro from Juventus in mid-2024 for just over £6m (€7m). Since then, he has become one of the top forwards in Brazil, scoring 22 goals and providing seven assists in 40 games this season. He also leads the national league’s scoring charts.
