Viktor Gyokeres is not in the Sweden squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Switzerland in mid-November.

Gyokeres came off at half-time of the weekend's 2-0 win over Burnley with a muscle injury after scoring the opening goal. The striker was then absent from the Arsenal squad that faced Slavia Prague in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Mikel Merino deputised on both occasions, scoring the second and third goals during their 3-0 win in midweek. After the latest update from Sweden, it now appears exceedingly unlikely that Gyokeres will play any part against Sunderland on Saturday evening.

Sweden, who the former Chelsea and West Ham United head coach Graham Potter now leads, named their squad on Wednesday morning. Alexander Isak of Liverpool is in despite his injury issues, but there is no place for Gyokeres.

An article on their football association's website confirms Gyokeres, as well as Tottenham Hotspur player Dejan Kulusevski, are missing due to injuries. Potter also addressed the concussion Lucas Bergvall is recovering from.
