Manchester United U21s ended their EFL Trophy campaign with a 2-0 victory at League Two side Notts County on Tuesday evening.

The hosts created the game’s first chance in the 15th minute, as Max Khouyar’s curling effort was saved by goalkeeper Will Murdock.

Just before the half-hour mark, Shea Lacey put Man United ahead, receiving a lofty pass from Chido Obi before applying the finish.

Notts County pushed for the equaliser but failed to create a clear-cut chance. Their only attempt fell to Charlie Gill, who saw an effort fly over the bar before halftime.

The League Two side began the second half on the front foot. Tyrese Hall’s shot was deflected wide before Matty Platt missed a big chance to score from Kouhyar’s cross.

Despite their attacking intent, United doubled their lead in the 56th minute through Jacob Devaney’s individual brilliance.

The young midfielder picked up the ball from his own half and ran the length of the field before firing a low drive into the bottom right corner.
