Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold made his return to Anfield amid a chorus of boos from the Reds faithful ahead of the Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

The defender, who left to join the La Liga side in the summer after running down his contract, was on the bench for Xabi Alonso's side this evening and was not part of the starting XI who were booed out onto the field as a collective.

Instead, the England international took to the field with his fellow substitutes a few minutes later, entering the pitch alone after embracing several Liverpool members of staff in the tunnel.
