So today, we’re looking ahead to another cup final — this time against St Mirren — with our trophy count now sitting two ahead of the Ibrox club’s.

That’s a significant development, far more than it appears. Because if we’re now favourites for the league title — and we should be, especially with Hearts still due to visit Celtic Park — then the League Cup win would stretch our lead to three. Another league title on top of that would make it four.

Some of their supporters still cling to wartime trophies and other invented history to bolster their claim. But that illusion is running out of road. Soon, even they won’t be able to deny it: Celtic have overtaken the Survival Lie — the narrative on which their modern identity rests.

Because it is a lie. A colossal one. And when we reach that fabled 56, we won’t just match their claim — we’ll eclipse it. And when we hit 57, 58, and 59 — and we will — we’ll obliterate it completely. That number was their lifeline. It was never just a stat. It was everything.

What happens after that is uncharted territory.
