Former Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson got his first taste of the Istanbul derby at the weekend as he was pelted by plastic cups while playing for Fenerbahce.

The Brazillian departed City in the summer to move to Turkey after Pep Guardiola's side opted to replace him with Gianluigi Donnarumma, and has had a solid start to life in Turkey, with his side second in the Super Lig table.

On Sunday, however, he got a rude introduction to derby action in the country when his Fenerbahce side took on arch rivals Besiktas away from home in a heated clash.

With Ederson and Co winning the game 3-2, the home fans took exception to the goalkeeper and launched plastic cups his way, with the player stood in disgust as he gestured to the referee.

He even tried to volley one cup back into the crowd, with home and away players all moving over to help clear the pitch.
