Steven Gerrard sent a heartfelt message to his daughter Lourdes over the weekend as she celebrated her 14th birthday. Gerrard often shares insights into his personal life on social media and in recent months has enjoyed being a grandad for the first time.

Sharing pictures of Lourdes to social media, the Liverpool FC legend wrote: "Happy 14th birthday Lourdes I hope your day is special like you are to us." Among the photos shared were selfies of Gerrard and Lourdes and pictures of his daughter with her siblings.

Gerrard and Alex have been happily married since 2007 after they tied the knot in a luxurious ceremony at Cliveden House in Berkshire. Gerrard was aged 27 at the time and heaped praise on his bride in an interview after the wedding with OK! Magazine. He said: "When I saw her coming down the stairs, she just looked amazing. And the girls looked really beautiful. I was dead proud of all of them."
