Yves Bissouma is yet to feature for Tottenham Hotspur this season, thanks to ill-discipline and injury issues.

The Mali international was heavily linked with a summer exit from White Hart Lane. As luck would have it, the 29-year-old was denied an opportunity to join Turkish club Fenerbahce in the summer transfer window due to a knee injury picked up in training. Fenerbahce were closing in on the midfielder, only for them to pull out of a deal due to his fitness issues.

Yves Bissouma, who was dropped from the Spurs squad against Paris Saint-Germain for the UEFA Super Cup clash due to persistent lateness, picked up an injury in his first competitive match of the season during the October international break. He was surprisingly called up to the national team for the World Cup qualifier against Madagascar, and moments after entering the pitch in the 66th minute, the combative midfielder suffered an ankle injury.

Bissouma has undergone ankle surgery, subsequently ruling him out for several weeks. He could be out for longer than expected, meaning the African star’s chances of featuring for Thomas Frank’s side appear slim before December.
